József Csabai, our countryman now of Canada and Puskás' friend, will attend the Cup

Our guest from Vancouver

13th June 2008.

József Csabai, a member of the Puskás Academy Technical Governing Body, will attend the PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP, and moreover, will be involved in the organisation of the next tournament.

József Csabai left Hungary in 1956 and went first to the USA before moving on to Canada. Csabai and Puskás struck up their friendship in 1968 when Puskás signed a contract to take over as head coach of the Vancouver Royals club and it is this friendship which is in part the reason for his visit.

Besides Csabai's career as a footballer, mostly spent at Vancouver Royals, he was also a coach and aside from his main livelihood as a chiropractor, was involved in other areas, for example working at AC Milan's football school. As a member of the Puskás Academy Technical Governing Body, Csabai will be part of the decision to pick the PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP's player of the tournament. On his visit to the tournament, most likely together with his son Róbert, he will represent the Canada Soccer Association, as a respected member of their coaching development committee.

It is hoped that beside his visit on this occasion, Csabai's involvement in the organisation of the next year's edition of the tournament will result in the participation of a Canadian team, most likely Vancouver Royals.
