Former Romanian national youth team player Zoltán Iasko is also coming to Felcsút

He’s Gheorghe Hagi’s right-hand man

19th April 2011.

Zoltán Iasko trained together with Romania’s golden generation of footballers and if it hadn’t been for an unfortunate knee injury as a youth then perhaps we could also be talking about him as a many-times capped European Championship and World Cup participant. Iasko can thank football for his many friends including Gheorghe Hagi, the ’Maradona of the Carpathians’ who trusts him as his Hagi Academy Technical Director.

„I don’t know and I’ve never seen our group opponents. In any case it is important information to know that last year it was exactly Honvéd and Panathinaikos who contested the final. For us though in every tournament it is our aim to go as far as we can. Therefore we’re aiming for the PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP Final! Otherwise why would we travel?” Iasko said.

Before becoming technical director of the Hagi Academy Iasko worked at Galatasaray and Politecnica Timisoara, the latter as goalkeeper coach alongside the head coach Hagi.

The Hagi Academy’s short history tells us little about the academy’s players and the quality of the education. Last year Hagi’s former clubs travelled to Constanta for an Under 17 tournament in which the host team drew 2-2 with Barcelona but lost 1-0 to Galatasaray and 2-0 to Real Madrid in games in which they were not ashamed to finish second.

Iasko confirmed to our website that it is imaginable that Gheorghe Hagi, his academy’s owner and founder, will also come to the PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP matches.
