Fradi outclassed after taking the lead

Six-goal Real rout Fradi to complete final lineup

24th April 2011.

A sparkling display from Real Madrid CF which saw them score six goals put the Spanish club into the final of the 2011 PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP tomorrow but only after opponents Ferencváros had taken the lead in the first-half of their Group A match at Felcsút.

A close-range strike from Norbert Lepkó gave Fradi the lead but Real hit back immediately through Bristol and went ahead before half-time through Lozano's header and further goals from Mendez twice, Balaguer and Acevedo handed them a 6-1 victory and first place in the final Group A standings.

It was clear from the outset that Real would play the more technically astute, short passing game and that a combative Fradi eleven would look to soak up the pressure andstrike on the break.

It was one such break that led to the opening goal of the match when Richárd Bokányi's foray down the left earned him a free-kick and from that Fradi gained a corner which, when swung in, was half-cleared as far as Vince Erdei on the edge of the Real penalty area. His controlled volley was pushed out by a sprawling Ángel De La Calzada Ramos in the Madrid goal but only as far as the unimpeded Norbert Lepkó who fired into an empty net.

This scoreline was perfect for the Puskás Academy who would qualify as Group A winners if it stayed the same but sadly for them and for Fradi, the Spanish hit back straightaway in spectacular fashion, Real captain Cristian Benavente Bristol striding forward and, to gasps from the crowd, cracking a sizzling 30-metre strike into the top left corner of Fradi goalkeeper Csaba Dániel's net.

The 2008 PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP winners were now getting into their stride and only meant trouble for the green and whites from Budapest. In the 27th minute Real took the lead with a superbly fluid phase of play, Bristol releasing Daniel Pardeza De La Fuente down the right channel and his outswinging cross being headed firmly down and inside the near post by Alberto Lonzano Lominchar arriving with a standard diagonal run.

So despite taking the lead and putting on a typically battling first-half performance Ferencváros found themselves 2-1 down at the break. Real were in no mood to let them back into the match but should have extended their lead through Pardeza but his finish when one on one with the keeper squirted wide of the far left post. Where Pardeza failed though, his teammate Oscar Novo Luaces succeeded, when he ran onto a through ball from substitute Joel Mendez and slotted the ball past Dániel with aplomb.

Kendal Korkut's long-range effort nearly hauled Fradi back into it but from then the Spanish masterclass truly began. Aldair Castillo's long pass from the left channel on the hour found Balaguer just inside the box and he controlled and finished high into the net in one neat movement for Real's fourth goal.

Four minutes later and Real were 5-1 up, that man Balaguer chasing down the ball and gaining possession in the Ferencváros penalty area before squaring the ball to fellow replacement Martin Acevedo who applied a simple finish into the far right corner of the net.

They weren't finished there though and in the 67th minute they made it six, Balaguer cutting the ball back from the byline to Mendez 25 metres who blasted the ball first-time inside the near left post.

Real were evidently satisfied with their afternoon's work and reduced the tempo with tomorrow's final in mind, something which may have contributed to Fradi fashioning one final chance but after Bokányi had slipped the ball through to Erdei alone in the right channel the ginger-haired forward could only shovel a hesitant shot against the body of Ramos.

Therefore, it is Real who convincingly move into the 2011 PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP Final in Székesfehérvár tomorrow while Ferencváros will contest the 5th and 6th place play-off in the first game of the day.
