Tibor Farkas, the coach of winners Budapest Honvéd. "I felt in every moment that the organisation was fantastic; not just the level of the matches but the service was first-class. If possible, everything was exceptional even when compared to last year. Of course I am satisfied, my team having won the tournament! I feel we were much better in our group matches than in the final but it was not undeservedly so that we won against Real Madrid!"
Real Madrid coach Luis Miguel Ramis Monfort gave his thoughts on the event to us with the help of Real's honorary head of delegation, József Tóth-Zele. "Every year we come with happiness to play in the PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP matches. In our first group match we put on a good performance but unfortunately our number goalkeeper was injured and we really missed him in the other two matches. We took our chances well against Ferencváros; it's just a shame in the final we could not go on to score more goals after we took the lead. I withdrew us into defence after the two dismissals because we were facing a top-class opponent in Honvéd. I'm sorry that we weren't lucky in the penalty shootout. In the future we'll be delighted to come back if we are invited again."
The coach of Panathinaikos Evangelos Szamios together with honorary leader of their delegation Nikos Sakulis sent these thoughts. "Unfortunately the first match against Honvéd went very badly for us. Two serious errors sent us heading towards defeat. We were succesful in improving against the Hagi Academy and I believe we showed our ability when we came back from two goals down against such a good team as Videoton Puskás Academy in the bornze medal match. In reality the tournament's two best teams contested the final and the basic things we saw show Panathinaikos were this time the PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP's third-best team."
János Mózner, Videoton Puskás Akadémia: "In the bronze medal match we conceded goals due to serious individual errors. I was particularly disappointed because we started superbly and already led by two goals, but we stood off Panthinaikos and in doing so gave them an opportunity to recover. By half time they had recovered to get on level terms and after the break they scored the third, and as it turned out, the winning goal. We played well in our first match but against Real and in the afore-mentioned match the best teams won. In summary I can say we participated in a fantastic tournament and I hope it serves our players' development well!
Béla Dukon, Ferencváros coach: Against Videoton Puskás Academy three individual errors sent us towards defeat. Against Real we tried to improve but although we went into the match 'sincerely', Real 'executed' us in the end. For the 5th/6th place match I changed many of the team that started against Real and it seemed it had the desired effect. It wasn't easy but eventually we were successful in the penalty shootout against the Hagi Academy. I can only speak of the PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP in glowing terms. I hope Fradi receive an invitiation in the future because it is always possible to learn something in this tournament!"
Hagi Academy U17 coach Daniel Radulescu will always have a special experience of playing in Hungary. "It was against the Hungarian national team that I made my debut for Romania. It is an unerase-able experience in my life. Working with my Hungarian-speaking Hagi Academy colleague Zoltán Iasko and the PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP is also a new experience that is now tied to Hungary for me. I am a little disappointed with our finishing position but, although of course I don't want to be offering excuses, we were missing the majority of our most influential players because they were playing in the Romanian U17 national team. Without them we tried to fill their places but the results, I feel, show we weren't successful. The PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP is an exceptional tournament with high quality teams and it was an honour for us to represent Romanian football here!
