Best player and goal king prizes head to Spain with winner’s trophy

Madridistas collect PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP awards

15th June 2008.

After their crushing PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP Final victory against the Puskás Academy, Real Madrid were presented with the trophy at an awards ceremony attended by many Hungarian footballers past and present. Former Hungarian Prime Minister Dr Viktor Orbán and CEO of Magyar Suzuki Corporation Isao Ozawa jointly presented the Cup to a jubilant Real Madtrid squad in front of a sizeable crowd at the Sóstói Stadion in Székesfehérvár today.

In line with their dominant team performance at the PUSKÁS-SUZUKI CUP 2008, Real Madrid almost swept the board of individual prizes too. Francisco Sol won the Suzuki scooter on offer for the tournament’s top goalscorer with four goals overall and was presented with his certificate by Ferenc Puskás’ wife, Erzsébet. Real Madrid captain Carlos Exposito was deservedly crowned the tournament’s best player and will enjoy a holiday with a partner to London, England, the scene of some of Ferenc Puskás’ greatest triumphs, as his prize, as well as treasuring the memory of being presented with his certificate by Magical Magyar Jenő Buzánszky. Honvéd goalkeeper Gergely Kapusi ensured Madrid wouldn’t scoop all three prizes by being voted goalkeeper of the tournament. He has won a trip for two to Egypt, one of the countries in which Ferenc Puskás coached, and received his certificate today from former Hungary international goalkeeper and Fehérvár legend Péter Disztl.
