Expanded format
The enlarged six-team competition for the Under 17 age group, now in its 2nd year and featuring two new teams, SK Slovan Bratislava and Ferencvárosi TC, is one of the most prestigious dates in Hungary's youth football calendar and will this year take place over four days between 11th and 14th June.
VIPs made the draw
Representatives from both new participants, former Hungary international footballer Péter Lipcsei of Ferencváros and Gyula Simon of Slovan, joined Viktor Kassai, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Football Final referee, and Mr Hisashi Takeuchi, CEO of Magyar Suzuki Corporation, in drawing out numbered balls relating to participants and matches in front of a number of VIPs and an expectant media corp.
Group openers
The results of the draw mean current Puskás-Suzuki Cup holders Real Madrid will kick off their Group B campaign against Honvéd on the main pitch at the Puskás Academy headquarters in Felcsút at 15:00 on Thursday 11th June, followed immediately by the host side Puskás Akadémia Fehérvár's first match against Ferencváros in Group A.
Big games
The following day sees Panathinaikos FC, the third and final team in Group B, take on Honvéd, after which the Puskás Akadémia team will provide the opposition for Slovan's inaugural match in the competition. Saturday is when Ferencváros and Slovan battle it out in the final Group A match before the game of the day when Real Madrid and Panathinaikos bring the curtain down on Group B.
Finals Day
Sunday 14th June is Finals Day in Székesfehérvár, the home of Hungarian premier division club Fehérvár FC. At 13:00 the third-placed teams in each group contest 5th and 6th place before the runners-up of groups A and B battle it out for the bronze medal position.Then at 17:00 the match that will decide the winners of the Puskás-Suzuki Cup 2009 will start between the winners of the two three-team groups.
