Head Coach István Vincze's Puskás Akadémia Fehérvár Under 17 team started with three triallists in their starting lineup so it was no wonder they took a while to find their feet, but this initial unfamiliarity may have given visitors Ferencváros the impetus to dominate the opening exchanges, despite the home team's Elek Nyilas having a header cleared of the line after only two minutes.
From then on the first half largely belonged to the green and whites and they had the opening goal to show for their efforts, Horváth advancing towards the penalty are from the right and crashing the ball past Tibor Cseh in the Akadémia goal. Forward Dávid Praszna was a constant threat for Fradi and twice his long-range efforts caused Cseh consternation but without any end result. Indeed it was the Puskás academy that had the last effort on goal, Gergely Tóth's long-range free-kick being spilled by Péter Gábor only for the ball to spin out just for a corner.
The 2nd half began evenly but the first meaningful action suddenly left Vincze's side staring down the barrel, Hortváth darting through to receive a long lofted pass and subsequently lob the ball over the advancing Cseh.

This certainly was a setback for the home team but they slowly hauled themselves back into the game and after Roland Baracskai had headed wide from a right-wing cross it was left to Vakulya, who has already experienced adult first-team football with Felcsút in NB II, to round the goalkeeper and slot in after Viktor Vasas' clever pass.
The Puskás Academy were then effectively camped in the Ferencváros half as they sought a crucial second goal but the 'Green Eagles' held firm to record a win on their debut in the competition. Puskás Akadémia Fehérvár meanwhile must hope they can overcome Slovan Bratislava on Friday to ensure they avoid the 5th/6th placed play-off on Sunday.
