This tournament lies close to my heart for two reasons: firstly, because it bears the name of Ferenc Puskás, and secondly because it symbolizes those few things without which the renewal of Hungarian football is unimaginable. The Puskás–Suzuki Cup is not just the symbol of putting an end to the self-regret, it also proves that football isn’t simply a sport. Football is culture.

The mission of the academies is also the renewal of this culture, without which long-lasting success is impossible. Success requires endurance and patience, such as with which we organize this tournament each year jointly with Suzuki; if you like, with Japanese discipline. This year we are also preparing the fifth tournament in a positive mood and with great enthusiasm. I would like to thank everyone who has helped us in this work. I wish the teams much success and some memorable matches.

Orbán Viktor

Founder of the Ferenc Puskás Football Academy,
Prime Minister of Hungary
Let me extend a warm welcome to the sports lovers and football fans here, and also to the teams that participate in the 5th PUSKÁS–SUZUKI CUP! I am happy and proud that the PUSKÁS–SUZUKI CUP that we established jointly with the Puskás Academy in 2008 has been highly prestigious and popular since the very start, and that this year again, we can support players of outstanding talent in Felcsút. Sport is the perfect medium to reach people simply. Magyar Suzuki has been creating jobs in the country for the past twenty years, and has sponsored sports events throughout that time. Our goal is the same with the Puskás–Suzuki Cup: we want to reach people with the message of sport, so that they can feel pride when the Hungarian youth teams take to the field against the youth teams of Real Madrid, Panathinaikos and other respected foreign teams. I am convinced that we will see excellent matches between the 6th and the 9th of April. Please share all the pleasure and excitement with us!
